The BreakBeat Poets series has a proven track record. This volume will build on the success of The BreakBeat Poets, The BreakBeat Poets Vol. 2: Black Girl Magic, and The BreakBeat Poets Vol. 3: Halal If You Hear Me, while charting its own path highlighting urgent, necessary work by a dynamic and diverse array of Latinx and diasporic poets.
The audience for poetry continues to grow, in a renaissance led by poets from a diversity of backgrounds, including Latinx poets like José Olivarez, Elizabeth Acevedo, Ada Límon, Javier Zamora, and Eloisa Amezcua.
The anthology will be promoted by its 60+ contributors, a community of educators and poets spread across the country.
Editor José Olivarez’s solo collection Citizen Illegal was released to widespread critical acclaim in September 2018 on Haymarket Books, and was nominated for the PEN/Jean Stein Book Award.
